Arms, narcotics recovered in Jamrud
KHYBER AGENCY: A huge cache of arms and narcotics were recovered by the political administration of Jamrud in a search operation conducted on Tuesday here in Shahkas area of Tehsil Jamrud, sub–division of Khyber agency, official sources said. They said that heavy contingents of Khasadar force on the direction of Assistant Political Agent (APA) Jamrud launched cleanup operation against anti–social activities in the area and recovered 26 AK–47, 2 pistol and 24Kg hashish.
Three suspected persons were also detained and put behind the bars for interrogation, sources said. APA Jamrud Jahangir Azam Wazir flanked by political tehsildar Asmatullah while displaying seized commodities to the media persons said, the operation has been initiated with intention to wipe out all anti–social elements from the area, adding that no one will be permitted to disturb the peaceful environment of Jamrud.
Meanwhile, Returning Officer for the NA–27 (Lakki Marwat) deferred the scrutiny of nomination papers of two female candidates for want of bank accounts related details. Both female candidates Hazrat Bibi and Qabool Bibi were directed to produce bank accounts related documents and details on April 5. The scrutiny of the nomination papers of JUI– central chief Maulana Fazalur Rehman for national assembly seat NA-27 was also put off until today (Wednesday).
Nomination papers of a local JUI–F leader engineer Haji Ameer Nawaz Khan for NA–27, PK–74 (Lakki–I) and PK–76(Lakki–III) were accepted. JUI-F candidate for PK-74 and PK-75 Anwar Hayat Khan and Munawar Khan were also cleared to contest elections for the provincial assembly seats. Nomination papers of PTI candidate Khan Bahadar Marwat were also accepted for national assembly seat NA–27 after returning officer rejected the objections raised by a local lawyer Inamullah Khan.
