Karachi: 4 ‘TTP militants’ remanded
KARACHI: Four alleged militants of the banned Tehreek–e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were remanded on Tuesday into police custody until April 6. Abdul Majeed alias Talib alias Jaan, Hafiz Mairajuddin, Bakhtiar Mehsud and Imran were arrested by the Crime Investigation Department on April 1 from Sultanabad, Manghopir for possessing illegal weapons. A number of bullets, 50kg explosives, a Kalashnikov, five hand grenades, six tennis ball bombs, two .222 rifles, 10 feet of detonating wire, ball bearings, nuts and bolts, and a remote control were also seized from their hideout.
The suspected militants were said to be involved in several target killings, kidnappings for ransom, extortion, police encounters and other illegal activities. The alleged accused was brought to the court of the Judicial Magistrate (South) on Tuesday, which remanded them to the CID.
Majeed and Mairajuddin were stated to be the TTP chiefs from Sultanabad and Haji Camp, respectively, while Mehsud and Imran were allegedly working with the militant outfit’s Abid Monchar group involved in recent bombings.
