Karachi: Crackdown on Sheesha cafes in Defence
KARACHI: Police have raided a number of Sheesha cafes on Khayaban–e-Rahat, Defence Phase–VI and arrested their owners and managers. The raids were part of the DHA’s campaign against illegal and unethical activities in Defence, according to a press release issued by the authority. The DHA’s vigilance department, in coordination with police and Rangers, has started cracking down on Sheesha cafes in Defence.
Besides, the DHA vigilance department has also taken other security measures, including setting up check-posts, snap-checking of vehicles with tinted glasses and fancy number plates, keeping in check the display of weapons by private security guards and removing political flags from buildings.
Brig (retd) Azhar Manzoor, the DHA security and vigilance director, said the authority was taking comprehensive measures to improve the security situation in the area and ensure provision of a secure and safe living environment to the residents of Defence.
