Okara: 51 extortionists booked for destroying crop
OKARA: The Sadr police have registered a case against 51 people for destroying eight acres of sugarcane in revenge for refusing extortion to an organisation at Kulyana Estate on Thursday. Muhammad Asghar and Muhammad Aslam, sons of Nawaz Kharal and residents of 30/2R village, had not been paying extortion to a local organisation despite repeated demands. Saleem Jhakhar and Naeem Jhakhar, sons of Sarwar Jhakhar and Yousuf Dogar wanted by the police with their 50 accomplices reached the Square No 60 by car (LEB–1248), tractor–trolleys and motorcycles and destroyed eight acres of sugarcane amounting to Rs one million. Later, they escaped while firing in the air.
