Karachi: 91 suspects detained during raids
KARACHI: Law enforcement agencies on Monday claimed to arrest at least 91 suspects in different targeted raids and operations across city. Rangers’ officials said around 20 were nabbed during a raid in Nistherabad area of Model colony. The operation was conducted on a tip-off about presence of the criminals in the area. Rangers’ personnel detained about 20 suspects during door-to-door search operation. According to Rangers spokesman, 40 weapons of different types were also recovered. While in another raid by Rangers, around five suspects were taken into custody during a targeted operation in Quaid–e–Azam Colony, area of Gulshan–e–Iqbal, and North Karachi 5C–4 and 5B-3. Rangers’ officials said at least 10 suspects were detained, of them five were released shortly after interrogation.
Separately, the West Zone police also claimed to have arrested 39 suspects during targeted raids in different parts of city. According to police officials, 1600grams drugs, 285grams heroine, cash, mobile phones and other looted valuables were recovered. Meanwhile, an Anti Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) also arrested at least 22 suspects and recovered 14 motorcycles and two TT pistols from their possession.
Separately, Gizri police with the help of Special Investigation Unit (SIU) claimed the arrest of two alleged bandits, who were involved in bank robberies. In the first raid, Gizri police arrested an alleged bandit Fathaulla, who confessed he had looted a bank on March at Sehar Commercial in DHA with his accompanies. The police official also recovered a car with registration No.AUX–393 that culprits used in a bank robbery. The looted amount Rs0.1 million was also recovered from his possession, the official added.
SP Sarfaraz Nawaz said they conducted a raid at home of other accomplices of the bandit and detained another one of them, who was identified as Ahsan Raza and recovered a snatched motorcycle No.KBP–0245 and a rickshaw. SP Sarfaraz further said that the raids were being continued for the arrest of the other accomplices Noor Khan, Kalimullah Khan, Rasheed Khan and Shehzad.
Meanwhile, the SIU also arrested three suspects Yousuf, Rehman and Hanif and recovered weapons from their custody. DSP Irfan Ahmed said the suspects were wanted in robbery cases of Sher Shah. He said further investigation was underway in this regard.
