Karachi: IGP, DG Rangers told to explain illegal detentions
KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) issued notices to federal and provincial law officers, the IGP, the DG Rangers and others on petitions against the alleged illegal detentions of two persons. Tanvir Arif and Nazia submitted that their spouses, Sheikh Mohammad Arifullah and Mohammad Farooq, were picked up by personnel of law enforcement agencies in Liaquatabad and Saddar Passport areas on April 8 and 4, respectively.
They said the whereabouts of the detainees were still unknown, and prayed to court to direct the law enforcement agencies to produce the detainees before court, and release them if they were not involved in any cases.
A division bench, headed by Chief Justice Mushir Alam, issued notices to the federal and provincial governments, the IGP, the DG Rangers and others, and called their comments on April 18.
