Karachi: LEAs capture 368 criminals in 7 days
KARACHI: The ongoing drive against criminals and terrorists in the metropolis has revealed the sense of inadequacy among law enforcement agencies (LEAs), who are eradicating roadside barriers from lanes and localities in different areas of the city and keeping police stations and Rangers headquarters under strict security vigilance. Law enforcers claimed to have detained around 368 criminals in last seven days, but fail to stop the killing, robberies, extortion and other criminal activities so far.
Regardless of the efforts portrayed by the security agencies, the ‘no–go’ areas dominated by terrorists’ gangs not even leaving their strongholds. It has been reported that Noor Muhammad alias Baba Ladla of Lyari gang war having the strength of at least 1,000 armed operatives but security forces claimed to have killed two, and arrested four during the targeted operations. Similarly, police and Rangers claimed to have nabbed number of commanders affiliated with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and killed one but unable to give the certificate of clearance.
Besides, reported statistics revealed that at least 46 police personnel were targeted in the current year. Despite the main target of terrorists, law enforcers have started the drive of targeted operation across city on the directives of Supreme Court to eliminate no-go areas.
In frequent raids and operations, police and Rangers arrested over 350 suspects daily and also removed the barriers installed in different areas to secure their vicinities from street criminals, gangsters, terrorists and other kind of criminal activities. Barricades were still being removed to flash out the no–go areas dominated by various criminal and terrorist groups.
Political parties and religious groups have asked who would be responsible if Abbas Town like tragedy occurs in sensitive areas including Ancholi Society. The areas where scores of raids and targeted operations were launched included, Orangi Town, Pirabad, Manghopir, Surjani, Quaidabad, Sohrab Goth, Lyari, Gulshan–e-Iqbal and Shairshah and large number of criminals were detained and huge amount of ammunitions recovered from their possession.
