Lahore: LHC takes notice of gang rape case
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Wednesday took notice of the Toba Tek Singh police negligence in registering gang rape case of a drumbeater’s wife and directed the sessions judge to look into the matter and submit a detailed report. The woman, who was allegedly gang–raped by dacoits on February 18 at a village of Gojra, claimed that she had identified the criminals.
According to a news item, accused Abdul Shakoor along with three accomplices of the woman’s village barged into her house, trussed up her husband with a rope, collected cash, ornaments, three cell phones and gang–raped her. Wife of Ramazan alleged that Gojra Sadr police were reluctant to register a case against the influential criminals. Police registered a dacoity case on Friday against unidentified persons instead of the nominated accused and the charge of gang–rape was excluded from the FIR, the news item said.
