Islamabad: 207 absconders arrested in 2013
ISLAMABAD: In a crackdown against those involved in crimes of heinous nature, the Capital police have arrested 207 absconders during the current year and also arrested 41 gamblers along with stake money and other items during the same period, a police spokesman said on Saturday. During this year, utmost efforts have been made to arrest proclaimed offenders and a total of 207 proclaimed offenders were arrested. The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bani Amin Khan has said that commitment and devotion by the personnel of ICT police despite several constraints made them successful against the criminal elements this year.
According to details, IGP Bani Amin Khan had assigned the task to all police officials to ensure arrest of proclaimed offenders as well as other absconders and inform his office on the daily basis about success in this special crackdown.
He had also directed all sub–divisional police officers (SDPOs) and station house officers (SHOs) to launch massive crackdown against proclaimed as well as court absconders. In compliance of these directions, SSP Islamabad Yaseen Farooq also directed all heads of police stations to start their renewed efforts to arrest outlaws. A total of 207 absconders including 113 proclaimed offenders and 94 court absconders have been apprehended during this year. Similarly, police also raided at various gambling dens and apprehended 41 gamblers besides recovering stake money and other items.
SSP Islamabad Yaseen Farooq has issued directions to make this campaign further effective as the performance of police stations in-charges would be further reviewed soon in this regard.He said that no one was above the law and arrest of those being at large after their involvement in crimes of heinous nature should be ensured for the safety to the lives and property of the citizens. He warned the police officials that sluggish attitude in this regard would not be tolerated.
IGP Bani Amin Khan also said through a press statement that citizens should be proud of the fact that ICT police had always performed diligently and responded quickly to save our soul (SoS) calls from public. He vowed to continue these efforts for effective policing and make police department service–oriented in real manner.
