Rawalpindi: Abduction accused fails to escape police
RAWALPINDI: A 35–year–old man, who was accused of kidnapping her young female student, tried to burn himself to avoid arrest by police during a raid on late Sunday night at his house located at Nambal Plaza, Haji Chowk, Sadiqabad. Police and Rescue 1122 saved the life of accused namely Saeed Akhter, a tutor by profession by shifting him Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) timely, where doctors provided him treatment. However, police arrested the accused soon after he got discharged from the hospital here on Monday and launched investigation.
The name of abducted girl was Ramsha alias Kainat, a class 10th student in a private school. According to First Information Report (FIR) lodged by Shah Nawaz (father of Ramsha) with Police Chowky Ashraf Town Bandh Khana Road, controlled by Police Station Sadiqabad, said that he, resident of Khurram Colony, hired the services of one teacher namely Saeed Akhter son of Abdul Hameed as tutor for her daughter Ramsha alias Kainat studying in class 10th. “On April 12, 2013, the teacher came into his home to teach his daughter but later he kidnapped Ramsha”. He appealed to police to file a case against the teacher. Sub Inspector (SI) Hidayat Ali, who is also investigating the matter, when contacted, told that an FIR has been registered against Saeed Akhter on the complaint of the father of victim girl. He added that police went to the house of the accused located at Nambal Plaza, Haji Chowk, Sadiqabad on Sunday late night to arrest accused. “Police were conducting search to recover the girl when Saeed locked himself in a room, injured himself with knife, swallowed sleeping pills and also set his room to fire” SI said, adding that police rescued the accused and shifted him to BBH for medical treatment. The condition of the accused was stable as he slightly received burn injuries, Hidayat Ali stated in addition with police took the victim into custody soon after doctors discharged him from the hospital. Replying to a query, SI said Saeed did not confess his crime saying “I had not kidnapped my student Ramsha”. Nonetheless, the further investigation was on, IO added. Despite repeated attempts, SHO PS Sadiqabad Tanveer could not be approached for his comments on the issue.
