Karachi: LEAs take 71 suspects into custody
KARACHI: Law enforcement agencies (LEAs), while abiding by the Supreme Court orders to eliminate no–go areas and maintain law and order in Karachi, claimed to have detained around 71 suspects during different targeted raids and operations in various parts of the city on Wednesday. According to details, Rangers claimed to have apprehended two notorious criminals during a targeted operation in Jahanabad area.
Spokesman of Rangers said that targeted operation was conducted in Jahanabad area in the wee hours of the day in which two notorious criminals were arrested. Some 20 weapons of different calibers, a cracker and mixed ammunitions were also recovered from their possession, added the Rangers spokesman. In another operation, Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Crime Investigation Department (CID) claimed arrest of three alleged extortionist during targeted raid in Jackson area. SSP SIU/CID Mohammad Farooq Awan said raid was conducted after a tip-off.
Police also arrested nine criminals during different targeted operation in New Karachi Industrial Area, Surjani, Jamshed Quarter, Saeedabad and Site–B. The accused were involved in killing, extortion and dacoity cases, while further investigation was underway. Moreover, 29 accused were arrested for possessing illegal arms and narcotics. The police conducted different raids and arrested 13 proclaimed offenders and absconders.
