Karachi: 2 accused remanded in judicial custody
KARACHI: An anti–terrorism court (ATC) on Wednesday ordered two accused in the Arshad Pappu murder case to be kept in judicial custody for five days. ATC-III judge Ghulam Mustafa Memon sent Zubair Baloch and Zakir Dada to jail, and directed the investigation officer (IO) to bring them back on April 30. Another key suspect, Shahjahan Baloch, has been interrogated at the Kalakot police station.
The widow of Arshad Pappu, an alleged Lyari gangster, lodged an FIR that said Zakir Dada, Zubair Baloch, brother of alleged absconding gangster Zuhair Baloch, Shahjahan Baloch, three absconding police officers and others were involved in the murder of Pappu, his brother and an accomplice.
According to the FIR, Pappu, his 10-year-old son, brother and a confidant went to attend a party in a flat in Defence Housing Authority on March 16 when some 20 men abducted him, his brother and confidant.
Pappu’s son identified the abductors as Zubair Baloch, brother of Uzair Jan Baloch, Noor Mohammad alias Baba Ladla, his brother Zahid Ladla, Asif, Faisal Pathan and Zakir Dada.
The complainant said the three were killed after being subjected to torture and the bodies of her husband and his brother were mutilated and thrown into gutters in the Kalakot area.
She alleged that the offence was committed at the behest of former Union Council Nazim in Lyari, Shahjahan Baloch, who is now contesting elections as a PPP candidate for a provincial assembly seat.
