Lahore: 444 proclaimed offenders, 104 court absconders arrested
LAHORE: To counter the criminal and terrorist activities, general hold-ups has been started across Punjab on the instructions of Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Aftab Sultan. The general hold-ups will continue till the holding of general election, 2013. In this regard, the first ever and successful general hold-up was held on Saturday night which continued for four hours in all regions.
Police arrested 444 proclaimed offenders and 104 court absconders. Similarly, under prohibition ordinance, 163 cases were registered and over 10–kg charas and 2,270 gram heroin was seized. Under Arms Ordinance 220, cases were registered against various persons and 213 illicit weapons were seized. About 2,332 motorcycles were checked while 1,095 motorcycles were impounded in various police stations of the province. Nineteen suspected motor vehicles were impounded by police.
