QUETTA: Law enforcement agencies (LEAs) on Thursday foiled a possible terrorist bid and nabbed four suspects while seizing huge cache of weapons from their custody in district Sherani of Balochistan. According to the details, LEAs conducted a raid on a tip-off at a house located in Sherani district and seized a huge cache of weapons, including mines, rocket launchers, seven hand grenades, rifles, pistols, search lights and cash.
KARACHI: Police on Thursday arrested four suspects in two raids carried out in different parts of the metropolis. According to reports, police arrested two armed men after a brief encounter near Ibn-e-Qasim Park in Clifton. Senior Superintendent Ibadat Nisar told Geo News that weapons of different caliber and a motorcycle were also recovered from the possession of the accused. Moreover, two robbers were apprehended in Liaquatabad area of the city while they were busy in looting citizens.
LAHORE: On the directions of the Operations DIG, Hanjarwal police busted a criminals’ gang. Police arrested three members, including the ringleader, of Bala dacoit gang and recovered one stolen motorcycle. Three pistols and 16 bullets were also seized from the arrested accused, identified as Iqbal Manzoor, Shaukat Ali and Munir Ahmed.
NOWSHERA: Police busted a gang involved in stealing valuables from the Nato–containers, official said on Thursday. Talking to reporters, District Police Officer, Waqar Ahmed, said the police was tipped off about presence of a group of suspicious people at the godown of one Nasir Yousaf on the Grand Trunk Road. The police party raided the godown and recovered Nato–containers, he said, adding that eight persons were arrested.
LAKKI MARWAT: Police here on Thursday arrested a prisoner who had fled from Bannu jail during militants attack in April last year. Following a tip-off, Lakki Marwat police raided a shop in Naverkhel village to arrest the fleeing jail inmate Irfanullah, an official said and added that the law-enforcers asked the outlaw to surrender, but he instead opened fire with his pistol on them.
RAWALPINDI: The officials of Sihala Slaughterhouse and the local police on Thursday seized 50 maunds of unhygienic meat brought from Jhang to the local market and booked six butchers. Sihala Slaughter House General Manager Dr Mohammad Irshad told Dawn that following a tip-off, a team along with the local police raided Sarfraz Road at 4am and found six butchers unloading meat. He said a veterinary doctor from Sihala slaughterhouse checked the meat and declared it unfit for human consumption.
PAKPATTAN: District and Sessions Judge Abid Hussain Qureshi on Thursday recorded the statements of ASIs Imam Shah and Shahid Farid against former MNA Suleman Mohsin Gilani in a fake degree case. The court also recorded the statement of Rao Abdul Qayyum, a representative of the Bahauddin Zakariya University, and adjourned the hearing for June 6.
TOBA TEK SINGH: Villagers caught two dacoits and handed over to Pirmahal Police. The alleged dacoits were identified as Ali Niaz and Ibrahim of Kamalia. They were attempting to loot two motorcyclists.
PAKPATTAN: A girl was kidnapped and raped for eight months. A woman took the girl ‘F’ for shopping with her on September 16, 2012. On the way, Sarfraz and two unidentified people allegedly abducted her. The accused shifted the girl to an unknown place where Sarfraz allegedly raped her for eight months. The victim got a chance and escaped from their custody. Police have registered a case.
MINGORA: The security forces arrested 30 persons during search operation in Manglawar area here on Wednesday, official sources said. The sources said that the forces launched door-to-door search a day after the son of the peace committee member was killed in an attack on his vehicle. The security forces arrested 30 suspected persons during the search operation. The arrested persons were shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.
