Lahore: 841 criminals held during hold-up
LAHORE: Punjab police claim to have arrested 841 hardened and most wanted proclaimed offenders during a two–hour general hold-up across the province. According to a handout issued on Thursday, police captured 226 court absconders during the hold–up late on Wednesday night. Under the Prohibition Ordinance, 202 cases were registered against violators and more than 28kg hashish and 2,352 grams of heroin were seized from them.
Under the Arms Ordinance, 588 accused were arrested with 394 illegal weapons and 398 cases were registered against them.
As many as 14,869 motorcycles were checked and 2,378 illegal and without number plate motorcycles were impounded.
Also, 6,014 vehicles were checked and 52 suspected and without number plate vehicles were impounded
