Karachi: Culprit of ANP blast arrested
KARACHI: Law enforcement agencies (LEAs) claimed to have arrested an alleged terrorist, involved in bomb blast at ANP’s corner meeting on April 26, besides nabbing 11 other suspects during a seperate targeted operation in Defence Housing Authority on Sunday. The blast at ANP’s meeting had claimed at least 11 lives and wounded 45 others including women and children. Mominabad police station SHO Aurangzaib Khattak said a raid was conducted at Mehsud’s hideout in Pakhtunabad area of Manghopir where the blast accused was arrested after an exchange of fire.
Separately, a prayer leader of a local Masjid in Orangi Town was also reportedly detained by law enforcers over his alleged involvement in the recent attacks on political parties. There were also reports that the accused was the former activist of a politico–religious party and also associated with the Naeem Bukhari group of outlawed Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. His arrests, however, has not been disclosed and no concerned police official was available.
Meanwhile, investigators probing twin blasts outside the MQM’s election office in Azizabad, recovered broken parts of the cell phone from the blast site.
CID SP Mazhar Mashwani said they had recovered a cell phone parts from the blast side and sent it to forensic laboratory and experts were trying for examination.
Separately, Police officials conducted a raid at the residential apartments on a tip-off about the presence of the suspected criminals in DHA.
The operation was conducted in Tauheed Commercial area of DHA. The suspects were shifted to Clifton police station for further investigation. Police, however, did not disclose the political affiliations of the suspects.
SP Clifton Ibadat Nisar confirmed that 11 suspects were detained, who were being further questioned about their involvements in criminal activities.
