Bid to disrupt polls in Sibi foiled
QUETTA: The Frontier Corps, thwarting a bid to sabotage the polls, seized a huge cache of arms in the areas adjacent to the Sibi district, official sources said on Tuesday. “Acting on a tip-off, the FC carried out a search operation in the areas adjoining Sibi,” they said, adding that a huge cache of arms and ammunition were recovered. However, no arrest was made.
The arms included four kilograms of explosives, four hand grenades, 17 detonators, several kilograms of ball bearings and five liters of chemicals. It is suspected that the explosives and arms were to be used to sabotage electioneering, but the bid was averted by the FC’s prompt action.
