Rawalpindi: Bid to smuggle heroin abroad foiled
RAWALPINDI: The customs have seized a heavy consignment of heroin powder at Benazir Bhutto International Airport being transported to Hong Kong and arrested a drug smuggler on wee hours of Tuesday. According to airport customs, Mohammad Irfan, son of Mohammad Azam belonging to district Gujranwala, bearing passport number AD–1983442, was proceeding to Hong Kong via Doha by flight QR–399 at 4 a.m. After getting clearance from the counter of Anti Narcotics Force (ANF), the drug pusher when reached the customs counter for luggage check, the officials smelling some doubt on his odd activities intercepted him and took him to the customs office.
During search, six-kilogram heroin smartly concealed in porter was recovered from him. The drug smuggler has been arrested who has strong links with the international drug mafia active in Pakistan and other countries.
