Karachi: Man who sold explosives for ‘Burns Road blast’ held
KARACHI: The Arambagh police on Wednesday arrested a man who sold explosive material for the recent blast near an election office of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement on Burns Road. The officials also recovered two tonnes of ball bearings from him. Preedy’s Sub–Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Zameer Ahmed Abbasi said that investigation into the recent blast at the Babul Islam Masjid was underway when an informant tipped them about a man involved in selling ball bearings to militant groups.
The informant told them that the man ran his operations in Kharadar. Acting on the information, the police raided his hideout and arrested Minhas.
SDPO Abbasi said that the outlaw confessed of selling 30 tonnes of ball bearings to various terrorist groups who visited his godown for purchase. Furthermore, he declared that of the 30 tonnes of explosives sold he had no record of nine tonnes of material. Minhas said that the ball bearings used in the Burns Road blast were the same which the investigators found from his godown. Police have sent the ball bearings to the forensics division for examination.
