Mandi Bahauddin: ACD accused of demanding bribe
MANDI BAHAUDDIN: Regional Transport Authority Secretary Muhammad Umar Bilal has accused Additional Collector of District Shahid Zaman Luk of demanding Rs 100,000 as bribe from him. Addressing a press conference at his office here on Wednesday, the RTA secretary said that under directions from the returning officer, he had hired 229 vehicles for the election duty on May 11.
He said that transporters and a senior civil judge had signed an agreement and decided the fare at Rs 6,800 per vehicle, while a cheque for Rs 1,557,200 had been given to transporters. He alleged that the ADC had demanded Rs 100,000 as bribe and threatened him with dire consequences on his refusal. He said that he had sent an application to the Gujranwala commissioner in this regard and an inquiry had been ordered into the matter. When contacted, ACD Shahid Zaman Luk refused to comment on the matter.
