Police claim arresting 2 militants in Swabi
SWABI: The police claimed to have arrested two militants and seized arms from their possession in Bamkhel area in the limits of Swabi Police Station on Wednesday. Talking to The News, the District Police Officer (DPO) Mian Saeed Ahmed Khan said the police raided a house in Bamkhel village and arrested two militants affiliated with the proscribed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Refraining from disclosing their names, he said one of the militants belonged to Swabi district and another hailed from Mardan district, adding that they got training from Bara subdivision in Khyber Agency and Miranshah, North Waziristan Agency.
He said, “They had been tasked to attack a political party in the district but they were arrested before carrying out their terror act.” The DPO said that a motorcycle, several hand grenades and two pistols were seized from them.
He said the police continued searching and raiding the suspected places in the district on the pointation of these militants. The official said the case had been registered under section Anti–Terrorism Act against the militants.
