Sialkot: ASF, Customs foil smuggling bid
SIALKOT: The Airport Security Force (ASF) and Customs officials have foiled a bid to smuggle gold and foreign currency to Sharjah from Sialkot International Airport and arrested two accused said to be Sialkot based exporters involved in the scam. The Customs officials told the newsmen here that on a suspicion, the ASF and Customs officials frisked Sialkot Cantt–based two exporters – Sheikh Azhar Kapur (travelling on Passport No. AA– 4029142) and Rizwan Javad Kapur, having Passport No PZ–8677431 were attempting to travel to Sharjah from Sialkot airport through Shaheen Airlines’ flight (NL–798).
The ASF and Customs officials recovered several gold biscuits (weighing 20 Tolas) and foreign currency (125,000 Dirhams), which they were allegedly trying to smuggle. Reportedly one of the alleged accused Sheikh Azhar Kapur is said to be the member of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI). The Customs officials added that both the accused exporters were taken into custody and sent to Customs Headquarters Gujranwala for further interrogation.
