Karachi: 4 ‘target killers’ arrested
KARACHI: The Mauripur police on Thursday claimed to have arrested four suspected target killers and recovered arms as well as hand grenades from their possession. The police said a special team conducted raids of the Grex area of Hawkesbay and arrested Danish, Mehtab, Amir and Sheraz. They said the suspects were involved in target killings and were believed to be affiliated with a political party. Four TT pistols and four hand grenades were taken from their possession.
According to the investigation office of the Mauripur police, the detained men were involved in at least 20 killings and mostly targeted political opponents in Ranshore Line, Ramswami and the Garden area.
The police registered murder and illegal arms possession cases against them.
SHO Ali said they had not registered a case because they were waiting for the family of the deceased and the injured to approach them for lodging their complaint.
Separately, a 50-year-old man identified as Noor Hussain Baloch was killed when he was run over by an unidentified vehicle near Shams Hotel in the Khokhrapar area.
The body was shifted to the JPMC, from where the victim’s family took it away after completion of legal formalities.
Meanwhile, 50-year-old Ahmed Ahsan, son of Abdus Sattar, was trying to cross the road at Shah Faisal No 2 Chowrangi when a motorcyclist hit him.
Ahsan, a resident of Shah Faisal No 2, could not survive the collision. His body was shifted to the JPMC.
