Karachi: 4 ‘Taliban militants’ arrested
KARACHI: Four alleged Taliban militants were arrested after a brief encounter on Sunday at the sugarcane market in New Sabzi Mandi located off Super Highway. Police recovered 700 kilograms of explosives, two TT pistols, a repeater and bullets. Sohrab Goth Sub–Divisional Police Officer Muhammad Khalid Khan told The News that a spy tipped him off about the whereabouts of some terrorists who were planning to attack the offices of political parties.
Khan and his team raided the hideout. After a brief shootout, the police arrested four men. During interrogation, they disclosed that their names were Anaar Khan, Ameer Khan, Sal Muhammad and Naimatullah.
They revealed that they were members of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and arrived in Karachi from Waziristan to carry out terrorist attacks.
