Peshawar: Antiques seized, 2 arrested
PESHAWAR: The police seized 400 years old antiques worth of millions of rupees during search of a passenger van and arrested two persons on Thursday. Deputy Superintendent of Police Tariq Habib and Station House Officer Riaz Ali told the media that the passenger vehicle was intercepted on a tip-off. They said the relics were kept in secret cavities of the vehicle and were being transported to Islamabad from Afghan Colony situated in the limits of Faqirabad Police Station.
The police officials said the experts of Archaeology and Museum Department checked the relics, who said these were 400 years old and had been smuggled from Swat and Afghanistan. The police arrested two alleged smugglers identified as Farhad, a resident of Afghan Colony and Atlas and launched investigation.
