2 kidnappers get jail term in Kohat
PESHAWAR: The Anti–Terrorism Court (ATC), Kohat division, on Tuesday awarded 186–year sentence to two kidnappers – 93-year jail term to each one – after they were found guilty of abducting two brothers. The ATC judge handed down 93–year jail terms to Rahmatullah and Tahir Saleem, residents of Takht-e-Nusrati, after recording statements of the prosecution witnesses. The court awarded the sentence to each accused in two abduction cases.
According to first information report lodged at the Takht–e-Nusrati Police Station in Karak district on February 25, 2008, the kidnapers had abducted two brothers – Farooq Ahmad, 17, and Nisar Ahmad, 18, residents of Muhammadi Banda in Karak.
The kidnappers had set the two brothers free after getting Rs5 million as ransom from their family. However, the police traced out the kidnapers and arrested them. The police had booked the accused under sections 365A, 148 and 149 of the Pakistan Penal Code and section 7 of the Anti–Terrorism Act.
After getting arrested, the kidnappers had confessed to have committed the crime during police investigation. Investigators revealed that one of the kidnapers, Rahmatullah, had been involved in 70 cases of kidnapping.
