KOTLI: Police on Thursday arrested a man for making a bomb threat to Geo News. According to the police, Yasir, 20, a resident of Qamroti village of Kotli in Azad Kashmir, had made a telephone call to Geo News office, saying that he would blow up the TV’s office with a bomb.
OKARA: The police Renala Khurd City arrested a couple in a compromising position during a raid to arrest a proclaimed offender. On a tip-off, the police raided the house of Muhammad Saleem at Dhaka Colony to arrest Boota of 11/1AL, a proclaimed offender. However, the PO managed to escape. The police arrested Adil Khan of Pattoki with a woman. A case has been registered against the accused.
LAHORE: Following the directives of District Coordination Officer Naseem Sadiq, the Town Municipal Administration Data Gunj Bakhsh Town raided a number of Sheesha Cafes on Wednesday. During the operation, led by Town Municipal Officer Qamar Islam, the TMA sealed two cafes and arrested eight culprits.
OKARA: A vagabond raped an eight-year-old girl at 43/4L village on Thursday. The daughter of Ahmadyar Kharal was playing in the street when Falak Sher took her to fields and raped her. On her hue and cry, locals gathered there and rescued the victims. The accused, however, managed to escape. The Shahbore police have registered a case against the accused.
VEHARI: The District Police have busted 13 gangs of criminals and arrested 41 gangster besides recovering booty worth millions from their possession, disclosed DPO Sharik Kamal Sadiq. Addressing a news conference here, the DPO added that the teams of the district police launched crackdown on criminals and recovered motorbikes, cars, household articles and cash from their possession.
MINGORA: The police arrested eight persons, including parents of the two girls, in a Swara case in the Matta tehsil of Swat district, official said on Wednesday. Talking to reporters, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Matta Circle, Noor Faraz Khan, said the jirga had been called to settle an honour–related dispute between Raza Khan and Sardar. The jirga decided to marry off two young daughters of Sardar to Raza Khan’s sons.
PAKPATTAN: Police have registered a case against three people including a man posing as an SHO. Accused Nadeem and his two accomplices entered the house of Abdul Hameed of Chak-32 SP after scaling the wall of the house. Nadeem told Abdul Hameed that he was an SHO.
SUKKUR: The Naushehro Feroze police had an encounter with a gang of dacoits and arrested one of them after he was injured in the exchange of fire on Wednesday. The police returned the fire which left one of them, identified as Ghulam Mustafa, injured. The others fled leaving him behind.
FAISALABAD: A rape suspect was burnt by the victim’s relatives at Sargodha village. Zafar Iqbal, Ghulam Farid and Zaheer suspected that Ghulam Abbas had raped a two–year–old girl. They, with their four relatives, burnt Ghulam Abbas, who was shifted to the Allied Hospital in critical condition. Doctors said that the there were a few chances of his survival because his 60 percent body had been burnt.
RAWALPINDI: The Customs seized a consignment of gold being smuggled to Pakistan from Dubai and arrested a passenger at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport (BBIA) on Thursday, sources said. The Customs authorities intercepted a passenger who landed at the airport from Dubai on Thursday afternoon and recovered 23–kilogram gold bricks during checking of his luggage, the Customs said. The Customs authorities have registered a case.
