Kidnapper held in Lakki Marwat
PESHAWAR: The ringleader of a gang allegedly involved in the kidnapping of the son of a Pakistani diplomat in Saudi Arabia was arrested in Serai Naurang tehsil in Lakki Marwat district on Tuesday, sources said. The sources said that on January 23 Hafiz Farid Iqbal Khattak, brother of a police official in Karak district, had allegedly kidnapped Fahimullah Jan from his native town, Serai Naurang, after harassing the newly married couple that had come to their hometown for vacation.
The sources said that Fahimullah Jan was reportedly released after payment of Rs1.4 million ransom paid to the ringleader Hafiz Farid Iqbal Khattak. The accused was nominated in an FIR and the case was under-trial in the Anti-Terrorism Court in Bannu under section 365 CrPC.
“The family of Fahimullah Jan has reservations that some police officials are tacitly supporting the kidnapper,” a source added. The aggrieved family asked the provincial police chief to hold fair investigation into the case and bring the accused to justice. When contacted, an official of the Serai Naurang Police Station confirmed the arrest of the ringleader Hafiz Farid Iqbal.
