Karachi: ‘Target killers’ among 13 arrested
KARACHI: Thirteen men, including suspected target killers, have been arrested, police said on Monday. CID Anti–Extremism Cell SSP Mohammad Aslam Khan said after receiving a tip-off about the whereabouts of some religious party activists involved in target killings, a raid was conducted near Juman Shah Bukhari Shrine in Soldier Bazaar.
After an encounter, police arrested Mohammad Jawad Qadri alias Wajah, Asghar Ali, Mohammed Shiblee Raza and Abdullah. A Kalashnikov, three pistols and five grenades were seized.
Jawad Qadri told interrogators that he had murdered 11 people including Kashif, Jaffer alias Mota, Saeed Gul, Haji Fareed and Hanif in separate attacks in Risala.
He killed Imran and Mushtaq Memon in Napier and Jamshed Quarters and Irshadullah, Mujahid Azam, Siddiq, Nadeem Abbasi, Muttahida Qaumi Movement activists Syed Sharafat Ali and his brother Syed Mubarikh Ali, and Mohammed Umer Sharif in Soldier Bazaar.
Asghar Ali confessed to killing seven murders including Imtiaz, Kakaa, Gulza.
Two other arrested men accompanied him during these killings. The police official said in another raid, five men were arrested after an encounter in the Mai Kolachi area.
They were identified as Mohammad Shaukat, Liaquat Ali, Mohammad Nadeem, Babar and Ahmed Raza. They were found in possession of five pistols.
The SSP added that the arrested men were members of a Lyari–based gang and wanted by police for murders, attempts to murder, extortion cases and kidnappings for ransom cases.
