Islamabad: CIA arrests 5 robbers
ISLAMABAD: The Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) of Islamabad Police has arrested five robbers, including three for their alleged involvement in two murder cases, and recovered pistols from their possession, the police spokesman said on Tuesday.
Muhammad Riaz was killed in area in the jurisdiction of Golra Police Station on March 4, while Shamas ur Rehman was shot dead in the area of Sabzi Mandi Police Station on April 3 by unidentified assailants.
SSP (Islamabad) Yasin Farooq assigned the task to CIA DSP Zubair Sheikh to trace the killers. A special team was constituted under his supervision, including Sub–Inspector Zulfqar Ahmed, ASI Tasneem Ahmed and others. The team succeeded in tracing three robbers, Younas, Wajid Ali and Khurram Muzafar, who allegedly killed Muhammad Riaz and Shamas ur Rehman for showing resistance during robberies. The CIA officials recovered pistols used in murders and further investigation is underway from them.
Meanwhile, the CIA also nabbed two other dacoits, Awais and Irshad Nawab, who confessed to committing several robberies in various areas of Islamabad. Police also recovered dagger, snatched cash, gold ornaments and a motorcycle from them. Further investigation is underway from them.
IGP (Islamabad) Bani-Amin Khan and SSP (Islamabad) Yasin Farooq have appreciated the performance of the CIA team and announced special prizes and commendation certificates for its members.
