Karachi: 3 ‘target killers’ among 6 arrested
KARACHI: Three suspects involved in murdering Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) activists among a number of other killings were arrested on Tuesday from Buffer Zone. The three men, identified as Ateeb, Zeeshan and Mohammed Faizan, were arrested after an encounter by the Anti–Extremism Cell (AEC) of the Sindh police’s Crime Investigation Department (CID).
Two 9mm guns and a .30 pistol were seized from the suspects, who were shifted to the police investigation unit for interrogation.
SSP Chaudhry Aslam claimed the suspects were associated with a Karachi–based political party. During interrogation, they confessed to have murdered several activists of the PPP in Karachi.
The accused have admitted killing Haji Abdul Ghaffor and Naveed in Garden police limits; Bahadur Khan and Abbas on Sharae Noor Jehan; Waseem in Gulberg; and Mohammed Asif in Zaman Town. They confessed that on the orders of their “superiors”, they targeted four PPP activists in North Nazimabad; three Pakhtun men during a violence spree in the Central district; and a trader named Jahangir Pathan in Sharae Noor Jehan, said SSP Aslam.
