Islamabad: 5 Afghan ‘robbers’ arrested in capital, weapons seized
ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police have arrested five Afghan nationals for their alleged involvement in robberies, and recovered weapons from their possession, a police spokesman said on Monday. According to details, Sadar SP Jameel Ahmed Hashmi constituted special teams of various police stations to curb criminal activities, especially robberies, in their respective areas.
A special team, headed by Shalimar Station House Officer Sajjad Haider Bukhari, received a tip regarding the presence of criminals in Sector F11/4. A police team raided the hideout and arrested five criminals hailing from Afghanistan. They have been accused of committing robberies in the city.
The arrested men have been identified as Hazrat Din, Dolat Khan, Khair Muhammad, Khan Wali and Qismatullah. Police said the accused men had been arrested for possession of illegal weapons and for residing in the country without authentic documents.
The police team seized three pistols from them. The arrested men have confessed to committing several robberies in Sang Jani and Tarnol areas. Further investigation is underway.
Islamabad SSP Yaseen Farooq has appreciated the overall performance of the police raiding team and directed all police officials to ensure effective crackdown on criminals in their respective areas.
