Karachi: LeJ militant remanded in police custody
KARACHI: An anti–terrorism court (ATC) remanded a suspected Lashkar–e-Jhangvi militant in police custody until July 31. Imran alias Amir was arrested after getting injured in a bomb blast inside a three–storey building in Patel Para on July 20.
Imran’s three alleged accomplices, Mateenuddin, Subhan and Naeem, all associated with the banned sectarian outfit, were killed on the spot as the bomb they were preparing went off accidentally.
On Monday, Jamshed Quarters police brought the suspect to the court in an ambulance. The case investigation officer told the ATC–III, headed by Ghulam Mustafa Memon, that Imran along with his accomplices planned to plant the bomb at the upcoming Youm-e-Ali (AS) procession. The court granted the police request to allow physical remand of the suspect for further interrogation.
