Gang of cattle-lifters smashed in Lahore
LAHORE: Police on Thursday claimed to have smashed a gang of cattle–thieves by arresting its five members from the Kahna police area. The police said that they also recovered five stolen cattle–heads worth Rs800000 from the possession of the cattle–lifters.
A police spokesperson said that City Capital Police Officer (CCPO) Chaudhry Shafique Ahmed took serious notice of cattle–thefts taking place in the suburb of Lahore and ordered the police to launch a crackdown against the thieves. DIG (Operations) Muhammad Tahir Rai gave special task to SP Model Town, Tariq Aziz, who constituted a police team under the supervision of Kahna station house officer (SHO), Nasir Chatha.
The police team collected particulars of the gang and arrested five thieves identified as Ashraf alias Achu, ringleader of the gang and his accomplices Ghulam Rasool, Asghar, Pervaiz, and Ali Asghar. The sixth member of the gang is at large, police said.
During preliminary investigations, the accused have confessed to several burglaries that they had committed in the Kahna, Satu Katla, Chuhng, and Barki police areas. Lahore operations police chief DIG Tahir Rai has announced cash prizes and commendatory certificates for the police team.
