Bahawalpur: Police bust gang; 4-kg gold, Rs12m recovered
BAHAWALPUR: A police team led by DSP (Investigation) Kanwar Qasim Ali busted a gang and recovered gold ornaments and Rs12.328 million from them. The criminal gang was active under leadership of woman gangster Rawaida Bibi, wife of Muhammad Arshad, a resident of Joyia Kehror Pacca. The police team recovered 4-kg gold ornaments and Rs12.328 millions from them.
The DSP said this while talking to journalists here at DPO office the other day. He said the gang was operative under the cover of Muslim Investment in Ahmadpur East and its suburbs and it plundered almost 7-kg gold and gold ornaments and more than Rs28 millions.
The fraudulent gang, said the people, were running company named ‘Muslim Export Company’ to export carpets, blankets and fabrics to other countries and earn profit. On the complaints, Ahmadpur East City Police registered 7 cases. The Saddr Police registered one case against the culrpits. DPO Dr Sohail Habib formed a team which arrested the gang ringleader Rawaida Bibi and her other accomplices including Muhammad Shahid, Qadir Bakhsh, Muhammad Roshan and Ejaz Ahmad and recovered 343 tolas of gold and Rs12.328 million from them.
He said that about 41 gangsters were involved in looting people and most of them were women. He said that the police was searching for other gang members. Later, DPO returned the seized gold ornaments to their owners.
