Islamabad: 110kg of heroin seized; 5 arrested
ISLAMABAD: The Anti–Narcotics Force (ANF), in pursuance of its international obligations, furnished information to the Malaysian law–enforcement agencies, which resulted in seizure of 110 kilograms of heroin and arrest of five people.
As per details, information was received that a multinational gang had been shipping heroin from Pakistan to Malaysia and later to China and Vietnam, said an ANF press release here on Thursday. On the basis of the information, a joint operation was initiated by the ANF along with the Chinese and the Malaysian police.
Initially the Chinese authorities had shared certain clues to the drug gang in Pakistan, on which the ANF traced a few evidences. However, detailed investigation revealed presence of a narco–gang in Malaysia. Consequently the ANF shared the information with the Malaysian police, who arrested five members of the gang and recovered 110 kilograms of heroin.
In another joint operation, on information given by the ANF, the South African authorities arrested a foreign national at the land–border of South Africa and Zimbabwe, and recovered 2.2kg of heroin concealed in his bag.
