Okara: Boy released after ransom; kidnapper held
OKARA: A three–year–old boy kidnapped a couple of days ago was released after Rs one million ransom was paid while the police managed to arrest the main accused from the house of his beloved. Sohaib, son of Umar Hayat of Sher Rabbani Town and owner of a shoe factory, was kidnapped by unknown people about three days ago.
Later, the kidnappers contacted Umar Hayat and demanded Rs three million for the release of his son. However, Umar Hayat informed the police and Acting DPO Maqbool Hussain formed a team consisting of DSP Headquarters Shabbir Warraich, Inspector Malik Tariq Awan and B-Division SHO Muhammad Yousaf to recover the abductee and trace the kidnappers.
Under instructions from the police, Umar Hayat succeeded in bringing the ransom demand of kidnappers down to Rs one million. The kidnappers designated Pakpattan’s 50-Wali Pulli to receive the ransom.
Umar Hayat paid the amount to the kidnappers who released his son. The policemen monitored the process. Later, they raided a place at 37/4L village and arrested the main culprit Sajid, son of Nazir, of 38/GD village from the house of his beloved.
The kidnapper disclosed that his gang members were present in Chichawatni and Khanewal as well. Saddam Hussain of 38/GD village, a milkman, provided information about the boy to the kidnappers. However, the police have not disclosed the names of other kidnappers.
