Karachi: ‘88 gangs of criminals busted during Ramazan’
KARACHI: Sindh Police busted as many as 88 gangs of criminals in the province during the holy month of Ramazan. This was stated in a Ramazan performance report presented to Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Shahid Nadeem Baloch. A police spokesman said here on Monday that between Ramazan 1 and 29 there were 244 police encounters in the province and 88 gangs of criminals were busted.
In all, 18 dacoits and four terrorists were killed and 2,296 arrests were made during the period. Some 10 kilogrammes of explosive, 25 detonators, 12 hand grenades, four devices, a suicide jacket, 637 pistols, 17 rifles, 64 shotguns, 30 SMGs, one LMG and 11,578 rounds were recovered from the possession of the accused. The report further pointed out that as many as 19 police personnel embraced martyrdom.
