40 suspects nabbed in Hyderabad
HYDERABAD: The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Hyderabad Region Naeem Akhtar Baroka has said the police had arrested 40 suspects in raids in nine districts of Hyderabad division in connection with Tuesday’s cracker attacks and firing which left three people dead and over half a dozen injured.
He told the APP here on Wednesday that three persons were killed in gun attacks in Hyderabad, Jamshoro and Dadu districts while others sustained injuries caused by gunshot and cracker explosions. “The police beefed up security at the railway tracks, branches of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), highways and public places in connection with the August 14 celebrations,” he said.
The DIG without naming any group ascribed the attacks to banned nationalist party, saying the same group which attacked the SSP Office in Hyderabad, NBP branches, tracks and power pylons in the past was involved.
