Police smash several gangs in Bahawalpur
BAHAWALPUR: The district police smashed several criminal gangs over the past two months. The police busted Baloch Gang and arrested its members including Mehar Nadeem, Muhammad Ayaz, Muhammad Atif, Muhammad Shahzad, Waqas and Sajjad Araeen and traced more than 24 cases against the gang including the robbery of 75 tolas of gold jewellery in Khanqa Sharif and Ram Phatak’s robbery of Rs2.4 million.
During arrest people fractured the legs of one of the criminals namely Atif and was admitted to BV Hospital. Eight tolas of gold ornaments and a pistol were recovered from their possession. Similarly, three members of the Muhammad Iqbal alias Billi Gang were nabbed who were wanted in more than 20 cases of different nature. The police also recovered arms and booty from their possession. The police also busted Nadir alias Kaali and Ihsanullah gangs.
During investigation, a police sub–Inspector turned out to be the ringleader of the felons. The police raided the house of the SI and recovered six stolen vehicles and arrested him. According to details, the Cantt Police raided at the residence situated in Cheema Town of SI Allah Bakhsh, posted at Saddr Police Station and recovered the stolen vehicles.
Acting on the information, DPO Sohail Habib Tajik immediately suspended the SI and ordered the City Circle DSP to carry out a probe. Cantt Police SHO Irfan Akbar told the media that during preliminary investigation, the police came to know about the SI’s other accomplices and they would be arrested soon.
Meanwhile, City Circle DSP Aziz Ullah Khan told the media that a thorough investigation had been initiated and useful disclosures were expected from the criminals.
