Rawalpindi: ASF recovers 4.7kg heroin from passenger
RAWALPINDI: The Airport Security Force (ASF) recovered a heavy consignment of heroin from the baggage of a passenger at the Benazir Bhutto International Airport (BBIA) being transported to Europe in the wee hours of Monday, airport sources said.
The ASF intercepted a passenger, identified as Mohammad Arif, son of Mohammad Iqbal (Passport No. DR-1980851), resident of District Kotli (AJK) at the scanning point, sources said. They said that the ASF detected some suspicious material when his baggage was passing through the scanning machine. When the ASF personnel on duty opened the luggage, they found a huge quantity of heroin concealed in secret parts of the baggage.
“A total of 4.7 kilograms of heroin was recovered from the luggage of the passenger,” sources in the ASF said. Sources said that the suspect was proceeding to Spain via Abu Dhabi by a flight — EY–232 — at 4 a.m. They said that the passenger reached the International Departure Lounge at 2:30 a.m. The ASF handed him over to the Anti–Narcotics Force for further investigation.
