Wazirabad: 13 cops booked for fake shootout
WAZIRABAD: Sohdra police have booked some 13 policemen including a station house officer and two inspectors on the charges of murder of a youth in a “fake” shootout in village Behram. Yasir Hussain, brother of Qaisar who was killed allegedly in police shootout, submitted a complaint to SDPO Wazirabad for registration of a case u/s 302 of PPC against the policemen.
The complainant alleged that he was along with his brother and cousin was in village Behram to see his relatives. A team of policemen in a van and on two motor cycles came there and opened fire on Qasar Samra. Resultantly, a bullet hit him in the head and he died on the spot while his cousin Muhammad Ansar was injured. Later, he said, the police removed the corpse of Qaisar to THQ Hospital Wazirabad and showed the incident a police encounter.
He had demanded impartial investigation into the incident. The police high ups ordered for an inquiry in which the Sohdra police were found guilty. The police then booked SHO Faiz Rasool, SI Muhammad Siddiq, ASI Muhammad Riaz and 8-10 other policemen u/s 302,109,148,149 and 429 of PPC.
The complainant told the news men that they had an old enmity in Lohianwala (Gujranwala) and Sohdra police with connivance of their rival group killed his brother. Rivalry between Bhindar group and Samra group has claimed 10 lives.
