564kg drugs seized, 2 held in Karachi
KARACHI: The Anti–Narcotics Force arrested two drug smugglers and confiscated over 564 kilograms of illegal drugs on Thursday. An ANF team spotted a Suzuki Mehran without a registration plate near the Toll Plaza on the Super Highway.
ANF officials signalled the driver to stop, but he sped away. The officials pursued the vehicle and intercepted it shortly. During the search of the vehicle, 562kg of charas and 2kg of heroin concealed in a hidden cavity was found. The hitherto unidentified driver was arrested and his vehicle impounded.
Another ANF team spotted a suspicious Pakistani traveller at the Jinnah International Airport intending to leave for Jeddah. ANF officials searched Muhammad Jehangir, son of Shaikh Ahmed, and found 245 grams of heroin concealed in his shoes. Jehangir was arrested and an investigation initiated.
