Illegal arms recovered in Islamabad
ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Police have launched a campaign to de–weaponise the city and recovered a huge cache of illegal arms and ammunition from two arms dealing companies at Lehtrar Road on Wednesday, police said. The Rural Zone Police received information about the dealing of illegal weapons in the area.
Consequently, a team of Koral Police was deputed to take action against the illegal arms dealers. The Koral Police conducted raids at Niazi Enterprises and Yasir Traders along Lehtrar Road and arrested Asmatullah and Iftikhar, alleged dealers of illegal weapons, and recovered 33 pistols of 9mm, 19 pistols of 30–bore, 31 revolvers, 24 guns of 12–bore and one 7mm gun from them. Cases have been registered against them and further investigation is underway.
