Karachi: 127kg drugs seized, smuggler held
KARACHI: The Pakistan Coast Guards arrested a drug smuggler and confiscated 127 kilograms of drugs, worth Rs70 million in the international market, near Winder in Balochistan on Wednesday.
After receiving a tip-off that some drug peddlers were going to transport a huge quantity of drugs from upcountry to Karachi via road and then smuggle them abroad, a PCG team started checking vehicles on the Regional Cooperation for Development Highway (or National Highway 25) near the Naka Khari check post.
On spotting a suspicious car, the coast guards signalled it to stop. The driver complied. During the search of the vehicle, 120kg hashish and 7kg opium were found concealed in secret cavities of the car. The driver was arrested and his vehicle impounded.
