Karachi: 5 ‘extortionists’ held in raids
KARACHI: Police and Rangers rounded up five suspected extortionists on Monday. The police’s Special Investigation Unit said it had arrested an Afghan extortionist in Ittehad Town who had demanded Rs2 million from former MPA Michael Javed.
“Shukurullah, an Afghan, had called up minority MPA Michael Javed posing as a Taliban commander and demanded Rs2 million from him,” Inspector Irfan of the SIU told The News. He added that the SIU raided a place in Ittehad Town and arrested Shukurullah. A pistol and many SIM cards were seized in the raid. However, two accomplices of Shukurullah managed to escape.
