Karachi: Man involved in 40 cases of extortion, killings held
KARACHI: The Crime Investigation Department (CID) arrested a suspect for his alleged involvement in more than 40 target killing and extortion cases on Thursday.
He was also involved in an attack on Chaudhry Mohammad Aslam of the CID. The police recovered one Kalashnikov, two hand grenades and a TT pistol from his possession.
Acting on a tip off, a CID team raided a house in SITE–B police limits. Upon seeing police, the suspect opened fire, however, he was arrested after a brief shootout.
During initial interrogation, the arrested suspect identified as Syed Ijaz Gorchani confessed to be involved in more than 40 killings as well as in extortion and kidnapping for ransom cases.
However, the sources said that Gorchani was nabbed by the Rangers three days ago and they handed him over to the CID custody.
