6 held in raid on kidney centre in Rawalpindi
RAWALPINDI: The Lahore Police conducted a raid on a kidney centre located near Fauji Foundation Hospital and recovered many labourers and heroin addicts, who were brought from Data Darbar, Lahore, to operate out their kidneys, police sources said.
Police arrested six doctors and staff members of the hospital when they were operating out kidneys. The suspects and labourers have been shifted to Lahore for further investigation.
Police sources said that Rawalpindi has become a big kidney trade centre and the illegal business is expanding day-by-day.
They said the management of the kidney centre was busy in minting money by exploiting poor people, but those responsible to combat such crime had closed their eyes.
