Karachi operation – LEAs nab 152 more suspects
KARACHI: Law enforcers claimed to have held around 152 suspects including alleged target killers belonging to political parties and Lyari gangsters during separate targeted raids across the city on Sunday.
In the first episode, Rangers claimed to have arrested around nine hardened criminals during various targeted raids in different parts of the metropolis, including Quaidabad, Green Town, Nazimabad, Nishter Road, New Karachi, Orangi Town, Shah Faisal Colony, Abidabad in Baldia, Gulberg, Gulshan-e-Iqbal and Manzur Colony areas. Officials also detained suspects during snap checking at Lucky Star and Board Office Chowrangi. The officials recovered weapons from the possession of suspects.
Elsewhere, two political workers were apprehended during a targeted raid conducted by Rangers in Abul Hassan Isphani locality. According to Rangers sources, the raid was conducted on a tip-off. Officials also recovered weapons from the suspects’ possession. The law–enforcing agency did not disclose the identity of the detainees, or their political affiliation. The arrested persons have been shifted to an undisclosed location for further questioning.
Likewise, a notorious target killer, affiliated with Lyari gang war, was arrested during a targeted raid conducted by Rangers on Nishter Road. The accused was identified as Mansoor Baloch alias Bublee. According to Rangers’ spokesperson, the accused was affiliated with the outlawed People’s Aman Committee and was wanted by the law enforcement agencies in a number of criminal cases, including target killing. Spokesperson also claimed to have recovered weapons including .22 rifle, 7mm rifle, 9mm pistol, mixed ammunition and narcotics from his possession.
Separately, Karachi police claimed to have nabbed 73 alleged criminals including 42 absconders, 11 under arms ordinance, five under narcotics ordinance, 10 robbers and two murderers. According to Sindh police spokesperson, 18 weapons and narcotics were also recovered during the police actions for the prevention of crime.
Similarly, district east police apprehended 16 alleged criminals including two absconders during targeted raids and snap checking and also claimed to have recovered nine pistols, four cell phones and two motorcycles.
As many as 48 alleged criminals, including 36 absconders were taken into custody by district west police. Police also claimed to have recovered weapons, including one repeater, six pistols, one dagger, four motorcycles and narcotics from the possession of suspects.
Meanwhile, police arrested an alleged suspect Bakhtiar during an exchange of fire in Sultanabad area, however his three accomplices managed to escape under the cover of firing. Police officials said that the accused was wanted for attacking and injuring a police constable, Shafiq.
In another operation, two alleged criminals wanted by Karachi police in various cases of crime and terrorism were arrested from Swat. The accused persons were identified as Nawab and Ikram. According to police officials, the suspects were involved in various criminal cases in Karachi, including target killings, attacks on law enforcement agencies and terrorism. The suspects hail from Swat and Mardan.
