Karachi: ANF personnel among 64 suspects arrested
KARACHI: As part of the continuing targeted operation against militants in the city, law enforcers on Monday arrested 64 more suspects from different areas on Monday. At first, police, on complaint from a citizen, arrested personnel of the Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) along with his companion from Tipu Sultan Road.
SHO Zaidi said Azhar Hussain along with his companion, Sajid Hussain, was reportedly involved in looting the citizens in his area. “Upon information provided by the complainant, we raided the area and found them distributing the looted money among themselves,” the SHO explained. “The ANF officer was posted in Islamabad and had come to Karachi for holidays.” Weapons were also recovered from the arrested, while further investigation has been initiated, the SHO added. Separately, Garden police claimed to have arrested three suspects after an encounter with militants. The arrested suspects were identified as Faizan Ali alias Langra, Mohammad Saeed and Mohammad Faisal.
Police said the suspects were involved in various cases of target killings; however, their political affiliations were not disclosed. In another raid, police caught an alleged extortionist, Kashif Ali Siddiqui, when he arrived to collect extortion money from a local businessman in Surjani Town. Two more suspects, Shakeel alias Hukla and Mohammad Tayyab, were arrested by New Karachi police.
Police in many cases of crime wanted the suspects. Likewise, two more suspects allegedly involved in street crimes were arrested by Korangi Industrial Area police station. They were identified as Ghafoor Hayat Mirani and Jumma Gul. Weapons were also recovered from their possession. Moreover, police apprehended two street criminals while they were looting valuables from passers-by in Baloch Colony area. Police arrived on routine patrol and arrested the criminals. Looted cash, mobile phones and other valuables were recovered.
Separately, Rangers claimed to arrest 16 alleged criminals during search operations in various parts of the metropolis, ie, Korangi, Mira Naka, Akbar Road, Baloch Goth, North Nazimabad, Korangi, Goli Mar, Rabia City, Saba Avenue–DHA, Steel Town, Gulbahar, Shah Faisal Colony, Saudabad, Chanesar Goth and Bagh–e-Rizwan areas. According to Rangers spokesperson, 16 hardened criminals were arrested during the raids and weapons were also recovered from their possession.
Meanwhile, district south police also nabbed 16 criminals including 11 absconders and recovered a pistol, two motorcycles and nine bottles of liquor from them. Similarly, district east police claim to have apprehended 20 alleged criminals including five absconders during various police actions and recovered five pistols, one rifle, two motorcycles and narcotics.
